Pioneer of Kingsley and Proprietor of Sanitarium Passed Away Yesterday Afternoon. Special to the Evening Record. Kingsley, Mich., Sept. 21.- Dr. Myron S. Brownson of the place passed away yesterday afternoon at the age of 58 years. He leaves a wife and one son, Jay Brownson. The funeral will occur Wednesday afternoon. Dr. Brownson was proprietor for the Brownson sanitarium of this place, where he has been for the past 30 years or more, and also had many other business interests, owning farm, mill and residence property. He was probably the most widely known citizen of Kingsley. He came to Grand Traverse county from western New York. He was assistant surgeon during the rebellion. Dr. Brownson was born in 1844 at Loon Lake, Steuben county, New York. After his service in the civil war he graduated from the Jefferson Medical college in Philadelphia, and later, in 1871, from Bennett Medical college of Chicago. He was married in 1871 to Miss Sarah Ann Rowe of Springwater, Livingston county, New York. He came to Michigan 37 years ago, locating at Monroe Center. In 1874 he removed to Kingsley, where he remained until the time of his death. Besides his wife and son, the latter, J.J. Brownson, being a practicing physician in Kingsley, he leaves a brother at Monroe Center, William H.H. Brownson; a sister, Mrs. Della Huff, who has been with her brother about a month, coming here from Angellica, New York. Dr. Brownson, it will be remembered, announced some time ago that he would build a big sanitarium in this city in the near future. His plans were prepared, but the work was never started.
