Lumberjacks
Pete Little and Jim Spivey were lumberjacks in the Interlochen area and later cut the huge pines on the property to build the Bowl where early concerts were held.
The National High School Orchestra Camp, National Music Camp, Interlochen Arts Academy, and Interlochen Center for the Arts are all names used over the years for an organization that started as a summer camp and has grown into a year around center for all the arts. It began in 1927 in the Hotel Pennington on Green Lake near Interlochen.
