Title A name given to the resource "A Story of Traverse City, Michigan and Some of the Early Settlers, written and illustrated by the artist Aldrich Farsky," 1908 Subject The topic of the resource Immigrants--Michigan--History Bohemia (Czech Republic) Description An account of the resource Manuscript that runs 49 pages which was originally printed in 1908 in the national Czech publication, "Amerikan Kalandar." It was translated into English in 1977 by William E. Votruba and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Leishout. It tells of the immigration of the Bohemians (Czechs) from their homeland to America and their experiences in this country after landing in New York. It describes in some detail the Traverse City of those early days and their lives in the new country. Profiles are given of a number of the Czech immigrants with emphasis on their success.
