Description
An account of the resource
Black and white photograph of Vinton's Trout Pond, Williamsburg, ca. 1900. Included with the photograph is a typewritten note that says, "This is a picture of Vinton's trout pond with "The Burg" in the background. During the lumbering days the village of Williamsburg was southeast of the present site. There was a considerable settlement, too. Vinton had a gristmill and sawmill and, after the timber was gone the backwater from the mill was still known as Vinton's trout pond. All of the old village except the residential buildings has moved to the highway." The note is undated, but based on the yellowing of the paper, possibly ca. 1950. Written on the back of the photograph is the name Larry Wakefield, which may indicate this came from his personal collection. Also, the photograph bears the stamp of Pathfinder School. There is a duplicate of this image in the folder.

Description
An account of the resource
Original black and white photograph of a group at Empire Stites' house, Williamsburg. There are 21 adults and 2 children. It is winter, with snow and icicles. Handwritten notation on the back of the image indicates Empire Stites lived in Williamsburg. Faint and hard to read word appears to be the word "brothers" which would indicate this is a family photo of the Stites family.
