The Traverse Area District Library's digital local history collection is a repository for items that chronicle the history of the Grand Traverse Region, focusing on Grand Traverse County. The collection features photographs, newspaper clippings, written and oral histories and more.

Initially made possible by funding from the Kingsley Friends of the Library, and later the Friends of Peninsula Community Library, archivist Amy Barritt, with volunteer help, has been diligently scanning and cataloging the entire physical collection of historical photographs held at the member and branch libraries of the Traverse Area District Library in order to preserve and provide access to these images.

This website will be updated on a regular basis. Look forward to seeing local images from the lumbering era of northern Michigan in the near future!
