The Traverse Area District Library's digital local history collection is a repository for items that chronicle the history of the Grand Traverse Region, focusing on Grand Traverse County. The collection features photographs, newspaper clippings, written and oral histories and more. Most of the material within are digitized copies of originals held at the member and branch libraries of Traverse Area District Library.
Initially made possible by funding from the Kingsley Friends of the Library, and later the Friends of Peninsula Community Library, a team of librarians and volunteers has been diligently scanning and cataloging the entire physical collection of historical photographs held at the member and branch libraries of the Traverse Area District Library in order to preserve and provide access to these images.
This digital repository will be updated on a regular basis.
