Description

The Interlochen State Park was one of only two stands of virgin White Pine left in the state after the lumber era. The other was at Hartwick Pines State Park. In 1941 a high wind blew down over 450 of the White Pines in the Interlochen park. They were sawn into shingles and used in the parks around the state.
The young girl in the last two pictures is Mildred "Fippy" Komrska.
