Description
Fire at the former Wells Higman Basket Factory at 8th and Wellington streets. Shown in image are three firemen using a hose to spray down the fire, in an attempt to put it out. Most of the roof and top story are gone, and the building is engulfed in smoke. The building had also been used by the Grand Rapids Sash & Door Company as a warehouse for wholesale business. On back of image is the date and time of April 13, 1950, at 4:10 pm.
