Description
Postcard photograph of ruins of Mayfield power plant owned by Mrs. J.L. Gibbs. On the morning of 24 March 1913, flood waters had eaten away at the sandy embankment under the G.R. & I. Railroad tracks near the Mayfield dam. The dam collapsed, taking out the power house, and making road and railroad impassable. Engineer John Hawthorne drowned during the event. This postcard is part of a numbered series.
