Premanufactured leatherbound ledger used as a diary by Perry Hannah beginning January 1st, 1852 in Elgin, Illinois, to March 3, 1852 on the passenger steamer Niagra. After those entries, there are a number of undated entries, and the last date noted is May 6th, 1856. Subject matter of his entries include his marriage on January 1st, 1852, the weather, his business dealings, musings on his life, a small number of recipies, poems, and possibly speeches, letters, or other writings. The bulk of the ledger is blank; approximately the first quarter of the ledger has writing in it.
