played Saturday at Manistee and the
Traverse Clly team won by the score
of 5 to 0, outplaying the Manistee boys
in all points of the game so that at no
lime was the Tsaverpe City goal In
srrious danger.
The game Saturday showed that the
local. High school team Is a very
strong oiganisatlon and that there is
k spot In IL The men are
all iilaylng first eJass ball and before
season Is over, they will give some
.-xhlhiUons of the finest kind of foot

downs things looked rather dark for
the Traverse boys hut after three fine
tackles had been made theyAook heart

of last year. It was almost enUrely

Baker hits the line with the
ball 1-s a caution. Pound and BhrenWrger were the halves. Pound who
hurdles the I'ino, and Bhrehbefger who
dives and crawls under the line. The
first half ended' with the Traverse Citr
bovs on the Manistee two-yard
and a itiinute more of play would have
meant fire more scores for the ylsltors.
In the second half Manlf^ kicked
off. but it' did her no good for the
nearest that they got to the Traverse
goal in the entire game was on the
35-vard line. The second half was, IT
anything, fiercer than the first and the
way the boys from the north ripped
up tlfe Salt City line made the Ipectators think there was a cyclone in the
field. Then, with three minutes
play, Ehrenbergcr was lifted, shoved,
pushed and thrown over the line for a
touchdown! and the score was B to 0
Once in the gam^lthe Traverse boys
tried a place kick for goal from the
field but failed. The 4ry for goal af
ter the touchdown also was a failure
and the score was unchanged.
It would be hard to menUon those

That the peninsula must first lalse

The following resolution which was
adopted sets forth the stand that the
board of trade has taken In regard
the street railway;

been raised and the necessary right

The action of the board must not be
mistaken as chilly to the street rail-

taking such action is ripe. Members
wbo have subscribed liberally already
declared that they would double their
BUbecriptions rather than see the rail

tonus. The various ways in which
the road would benefit the city and
the p

The method of raising the $10,000 In
Traverse City was.not decided. Some
members favored bonding, as this was
an enterpri^ that would benefit all
property owners, jUd. Hamilton point
ed out that in discussing bonding, tbc
question of bonding tor the new
ter works pump or making extenskms
of the water works would have preced

dered being an absolute necessity.
Public subscription will probably be

already subscribed. A public meeting
will probably be held to arouse enthu
