Overview looking NE toward Karlin and Green Lake after the area had been lumbered off and later burned by forest fires. The village of Karlin and theM&NE depot are at the far left side, The Carey farm shows on the shore of Green Lake and another farm in the center of the picture.
Karlin had a depot and shipped agricultural products from Grant Township and acted as the center of a community of mostly immigrant farmers brought to the area from Chicago by the lure of farm land.
