In its heyday, Steinberg's Grand Opera House was hailed as the finest theatre north of Chicago. With seating for 900 patrons, it opened on December 11, 1894 with a sold out performance of Hamlet. For the next twenty years, Steinberg's Grand brought culture and first class entertainment to Traverse City's citizens.
