Dear Vicki,
Thanks so very much for the great program you had showing the peninsula schools of the past. So well done & we all enjoyed it so very much.
Whitney said that when he attended Maple Grove sc his mother gave him a two quart Mason jar of soup to share with his two sisters for lunch. The teacher Mrs. Pitcher would place it in a pan of hot water on the heating stove & they would share it for lunch. They walked to school across a field but on Thursday they walked by way of the road as they knew that Mrs. Kroupa made fresh rolls that day & she would give them some.
