Yoric, July 6.—(Special)—The Journal’s Washington

storm is still raging off Santiago, interfering with any joint
army and navy movements today.

Washington, July 6.—[Special.]—Secretary Long has re*
_ceived word through General Greeley, signal officer, confirm
ing the report that the Spanish warship, Alfonso X!I, was
destroyed while trying to run the Havana blockade. General
Greeley 8 information came in a cipher message, and he con

DEUT IN MOVEMENTS AT SANTIAGO.
Washington, July 6.—[Special.]—The army department
thinks the next move at Santiago should be to smash the
shore: batteries so that Shatter can march in. For some rea
son the navy does not favor the plan. The president is much
annoyed at the suspension of hostilities, as the condition of
the a^my is .growing worse on' account of the climatic discomfdrts. The president hopes to. hear the result of the
confeience between Sampson and Shatter early tomorrdw.
;
HOBSON AND CREW FREE AT UST.
Washington, July 6.—(Special^—General Shatter wired
Adjutant General Corbin that Lieutenant Hobson and his
crew bad been exchanged and are now at the American army
headquarters. Admiral Cervera is not exchanged. He goes
to Boston on the Har\ ard with other prisoners. They will be
held at Fort Warren in that city.

DEUT IN MOVEMENTS AT SANTIAGO.
Washington, July 6.—[Special.]—The army department
thinks the next move at Santiago should be to smash the
shore: batteries so that Shatter can march in. For some rea

annoyed at the suspension of hostilities, as the condition of
the a^my is .growing worse on' account of the climatic discomfdrts. The president hopes to. hear the result of the

Adjutant General Corbin that Lieutenant Hobson and his
crew bad been exchanged and are now at the American army
